City of Chignik

‚ÄčElectric Utility

The City's electric service is powered by three John Deere generators, two of which are rated for 230 kW and the third for 117 kW.  There are plans to eventually create hydroelectric power from a dam on Indian Creek.

For initial electric service, there is a one-time hook-up fee of $140.00 plus a $100.00 deposit.  The City's electric utility is regulated and subsidized by the State of Alaska with the Power Cost Equalization (PCE) program.  The City charges $0.431 per kWh used but for the first 500 kWh used per household per month, the State pays $0.2493.
